You notice the person waiting before they have to find you. You make a first-timer feel welcome and a regular feel like they’ve come home.

That’s what Autumn Rooms has always been about.

Our customers aren’t table numbers. Over the years, many have become our friends. We know their families, their stories and what they order. They know ours.

We’re looking for someone who understands how important that is.

THE ROLE
You’ll own the front door and the arrival experience at Autumn Rooms.
You’ll welcome guests, manage bookings and walk-ins, run the waitlist, coordinate tables with the floor team and keep people informed when we’re busy.

On a big Saturday morning, there might be people at the door, a full restaurant, a waitlist growing and five things needing your attention at once.
You don’t add to the chaos. You calm it.

You make eye contact. You acknowledge people even when you can’t get to them immediately. Nobody walks through our door wondering whether they’ve been seen.

You’ll also get to know our regulars properly – not because there’s a script telling you to, but because you genuinely like people.

YOU
You’re warm, confident and very good with people.
You can read a room.
You know how to manage a busy door without making people feel managed.
You stay calm under pressure.
You communicate clearly with customers and the floor team.
You notice the little things.
You understand the difference between efficient service and genuine hospitality.
And you smile when you’re under the pump.
Previous experience hosting, managing a busy restaurant floor or working in a strong front-of-house role is highly regarded. But personality matters enormously to us.

We’re looking for experienced floor staff to join us at Autumn Rooms.

We care a lot about good food and good coffee.
But what people remember just as much is how they felt while they were here.
We’re looking for experienced floor staff who understand that.
People who are warm without it feeling rehearsed. Fast without making a table feel rushed. Attentive without hovering.
People who notice.

THE ROLE
You’ll work across our busy breakfast, brunch and lunch services on Darby Street.
That means taking orders confidently, knowing the menu properly, running food and drinks, clearing and resetting, communicating with the kitchen and bar, and helping the whole floor move well when it gets busy.
But the job is bigger than the mechanics of service.
Notice the table that’s been waiting.
Remember the regular who comes in every week.
See when someone needs another coffee before they start looking around for you.
If a booking note says it’s someone’s birthday, know about it.
Help the parent juggling a toddler and a pram.
If something isn’t right, care enough to fix it.
That’s the level of hospitality we want at Autumn Rooms.

YOU
You have solid front-of-house hospitality experience and can confidently handle a busy service.
You’re friendly and genuine.
You’re switched on and self-directed.
You communicate well.
You care about food, coffee and the details.
You don't disappear when things get busy – you get better.
You work as part of the whole floor rather than thinking only about your section.
And you genuinely enjoy looking after people.
We have a lot of long-term customers at Autumn Rooms. We want our team to know them, and we want them to know our team.
